The history and conservation of an ancien bath tub
In 1985 -1986, during the work of the Bosporus expedition under the Department of Art and Archeology of the Ancient World’s head Vladimir Tolstikov, along with a wide range of findings, the fragments of a ceramic bath – a unique, unparalleled ancient artifact – were discovered. The discovery was made in a building that was a part of a single architectural ensemble built in the central part of Panticapaeum between 510 and 490. BC.
In 2009, using a high-precision laser scanning, a 3D model of the monument was created. This allowed to connect the existing fragments of the bath, and reconstructing a significant part of it.
